The Renault Megane RS 250.

I am looking at the all-new hot version of the all-new Renault Megane 250, tweaked by Renaultsport to produce 247bhp, 251lb ft and 0-62mph in 6.1sec. The fastest of all the Meganes, and also the best, this is the Renaultsport version of the funky hatchback with 250bhp - as the name denotes - for explosive forward propulsion.

The all-new styling of this hot Megane is awesomeeee. It’s the all fresh pattern and far less avant-guard as than the previous era, that nonetheless the very decent actor, was considered an nauseous duckling by anybody who hadn’t driven it.

The new Megane 250 Renaultsport is more a revolution than an evolution, with brilliant styling and detail, which should prove a winner to a wider group of motoring enthusiasts than the previous generation car found.

Under the bonnet, it’s definitely not short on punch. The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is a heavily revised version of the previous car, boosted to give a mighty 247bhp and 340Nm of pulling power. It’s not the most tuneful four-cylinder in the world – despite whooshing loudly at high revs – but makes up for this with potent acceleration.

This standard version of the Renaultsport Mégane has clearly been built with day-to-day usability in mind, though, so the suspension is set up to be comfortable and supple on rough roads. At the same time, it enjoys corners.

Mmm.... perhaps a change from my Golf GTi to this? =)
