Baskin Robbins Says Bye to RUM RAISIN.

I am such a sucker for ice cream - and being in Bangsar, my favourite place to go to would be Baskin Robbins. =) What are your favourite flavours at Baskin Robbins? There are like so many different flavours - including chocolate, chocolate chip, chocolate chip cookie dough, chocolate mousse royale, cookies and cream, peanut butter and chocolate, gold medal ribbon and so much more...

My personal favourite? JAMOCA ALMOND FUDGE!!!

The one at Bangsar Telawi is one nice cosy ice cream parlour.. *wooots*

Anyways, Baskin Robbins just announced that they will bid farewell to the Rum Raisin flavour - unfortunately to some, but I am so happy cos I never liked raisins LOL. Lets hope its replacement flavour is one helluva awesome flavour!!!

This is what makes me think of Baskin Robbins so much... its ICE CREAM CAKE!!!

HAPPY ICE CREAM CAKE... TO YOU.

Travel more with IMASTravel =)

Last Saturday night was quite an awesome night - as Jojo Struys put it - having so many bloggers in one place is just plain awesome! It was an event with iMasTravel or MAS Traveller... hehe =)

Where was it held? It was at the NEO Tamarind / Tamarind Hill at Jalan Sultan Ismail.

So.... what is the MAS Traveller all about?

The MAS Traveller website is an awesome travel portal - do scout around for some of the best deals and offers there is right now. That is not all - Malaysia Airlines wants to give you a once in a life time experience of travelling to TWO holiday destinations. On top of that, you'll get to own a page on Yahoo! Travel documenting your travels.

But you may ask... HOW?

First, REGISTER to become a MASTraveller member and then submit a travel-related blog post. It can be an entirely new post, or it can be an old post from that exciting holiday you experienced last year. Basically they want your BEST work lorr... and then after that, compile a one minute video introduction of yourself and inform the judges why you deserve to win. Once you’ve made the submission, start promoting your entry to your friends and readers.

This is important - the more “likes” you achieve - the higher your chance to win.

See.... go check out their site and find out more!!!

A group pic with the current Sirens Media bloggers and some *new* recruits. =)

Having so many bloggers in one place would create plenty of havoc I would say.. but anyways, I would like to say... Sirens Media has THE best spot in the house!!! Prime table location next to the buffet lines/pasta booth, next to the souvenir/freebie booth and basically... the only awesome sofa seats of the night! Thank you MAS!!! =)

Meet the two pros of their own field - Sidney & Wingz =)

Mei Yee, Lionel, Taufulou and yours truly. =)

Lady Alie is looking hotter than ever.

eerr.... Joey and Louise giving blowjob? ahaha... no lah.. =)

...the lovebirds Yatz and gf. =)

...ahhh there's the hot chic and Louise again LOL. =)

Restoran Tong Yoon, Tapah, Perak.

Recently, my office just obtained a project in the small town of Tapah in Perak. Tapah is the administrative town of the district Batang Padang, Perak, Malaysia (with coordinates: 4.20°N 101.26°E). The name "Tapah" is said to be originated from the name of a fresh water fish, "Ikan Tapah". The scientific name of the fish is Wallago attu. The locals said that the name has been taken from the Malay-Perak dialect word which means "no worry".

Tapah is indeed a very small town only - whereby shops are primarily on two main roads - one being the road from the highway, and the other - is the branch-off called Jalan Stesyen - which leads to the Tapah Road. (for car/motor enthusiasts who knows of the Kampung Gajah racetrack - they would be familiar with this road).

Being a sucker for old school shops - I would always enjoy stopping at these places and try out their local coffee. Anyways, in this small town, there is a very old school restaurant/coffee shop. I think there are a few others, but this one somehow caught my eyes. It is called Restoran Tong Yoon.

See the tables and chairs with the marbletop.... true classic example of authenticness. =)

Anyways, what do you eat when you're at an old school kopitiam?

Toasted bread - with kaya and butter/margarine.

Go for its local authentic kopi.

Maybe sample their local packed nasi lemak as well.

Have two half-boiled eggs.

Or you can have it all. LOL.

Berkshire Hathaway Ready for more takeovers!

Warren Buffett said his “trigger finger is itchy” for takeovers after cash holdings at his Berkshire Hathaway Inc. climbed to $38.2 billion.

“Our elephant gun has been reloaded,” Buffett said today in his annual letter to shareholders. Berkshire needs “good performance from our current businesses and more major acquisitions,” after the Omaha, Nebraska-based company reported a 43 percent gain in fourth-quarter profit on derivative bets and earnings from its Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad.

Buffett is seeking takeovers as Berkshire’s $13 billion 2010 profit increased the firm’s resources and near-record low interest rates limit the returns available in fixed-income markets. Buffett completed his biggest takeover, the $26.5 billion Burlington purchase, last February. Since then he’s said he’ll consider deals outside the U.S.

Lady Gaga forgets her clothes as she heads out on date night with her boyfriend Luc Carl.

It's hardly the traditional clothing you'd expect for a night out at the opera. The singer went without her trousers on a date with her boyfriend Luc Carl last night. Luckily it was not your usual opera - they were attending Green Day's new rock opera American Idiot. Yet again the 25-year-old star was dressed outrageously in a leather jacket and leather gloves with just underwear, fishnet stockings and her staple platform Alexander McQueen booties.

Gaga kept her face covered with a pair of oversized black Chanel sunglasses. The couple walked into the St James Theatre in New York separately with Gaga being escorted by police and her own security.

Qatar Royal Family offers RM7.4b for Man Utd.

The Qatari Royal Family is preparing a new bid for Manchester United.

According to The Daily Mail the royal family of Qatar is preparing a fresh £1.5billion (RM7.4 billion) bid for Manchester United after the Glazers rejected an earlier offer.

A source close to the oil-rich emirate’s ruling Al Thani family confirmed that it tried to tempt the Glazers earlier this month with an offer of just over £1bn (RM4.9bn). The bid was turned down by the Americans, who are holding out for closer to £1.8bn (RM8.9bn). But the Al Thanis are on the verge of raising the stakes, partly motivated by rivalry with the Abu Dhabi royal family, whose wealth has transformed United’s arch-rivals Manchester City into title contenders.

Going head to head on the pitch would give the Al Thanis the opportunity to get one over on their Gulf neighbours, with the Manchester football scene offering a high-profile battleground. United strenuously deny that they have received any bid from Qatar Holdings, a division of the Qatar Investment Authority, which identifies ways to make a return on the country’s oil billions. But the source indicated the offer could be made privately, or through a separate vehicle owned by the Al Thanis.

The Apple iPad 2 to be announced on March 2nd, 2011.

March Madness could take on a whole new meaning if Apple gives the world another iPad next week. Apple Inc is expected to unveil the second generation of its wildly successful media Tablet, widening its headstart against competitors just starting to sell their first Tablet computers. The Cupertino, California-based company e-mailed invitations to a media event in San Francisco on Wednesday that show a calendar page with the corner peeling away to reveal an iPad underneath.

The large "2" on the calendar page denotes the event's March 2 date, but is also a hint that Apple is about to announce the follow-up to the original iPad. The iPad, about the size of a large book, has been likened to an overgrown iPhone or iPod touch, as it is powered by similar software and can run the same applications, or "apps." But it has a bigger screen that makes reading e-mail messages, surfing the Web and watching movies easier on the eyes.

With a starting price of US$499 (RM1,600), it's less expensive than many computers and, at 1.5lbs, it also weighs less. Unlike small, inexpensive laptops such as netbooks, the iPad turns on instantly, so people don't have to wait through a sluggish boot-up. And the iPad also lasts about 10 hours unplugged, making it ideal for travellers and other people on the go. Apple sold more than 15 million iPads in its first nine months on sale, including 7.3 million to holiday shoppers during the October-December quarter - about a million more for the quarter than analysts were expecting.

Since the iPad's launch, other consumer electronics makers have been scrambling to develop Tablets of their own. For example, Samsung Electronics Co began selling the Galaxy Tab last year, and Motorola Mobility Inc's Xoom has just gone on sale. Many of these new Tablets run Google Inc's Android software. The iPad is the first Tablet computer to win over mainstream consumers. A decade earlier, PC makers were selling Tablets that ran Windows, the same operating systems found on most fully-fledged PCs.

While some businesses bought them, they never sold well among consumers. These Tablets were heavier and had shorter battery lives. They were also more difficult to use as touchscreen devices, as Windows was meant to be used with a mouse and keyboard. As usual, Apple has not said anything about the highly anticipated next version of the iPad, leaving rumours to swirl unchecked online. Some bloggers have speculated that the new iPad will have a front-facing camera, which would allow people to hold video chats using services such as Skype.

If that were the case, its design would more closely match the iPhone 4, which went on sale last June with a front-facing camera and Apple's own video-chatting software, called FaceTime. Others have speculated that the new iPad will be thinner and lighter than the original, and will come with a bigger built-in speaker. Also on Wednesday, Apple shareholders rejected a proposal that called for the company to disclose a succession plan for its chief executive. The rejection came a month after Apple CEO Steve Jobs went on an indefinite medical leave for unspecified problems - an absence that could be related to his previous bout with pancreatic cancer or his 2009 liver transplant. Apple announced the preliminary vote on the non-binding proposal at its annual shareholders meeting, but did not provide a breakdown.

The RM12.2b Klang Valley MRT (Blue Line).

The recent display of the MRT Blue Line (Sungai Buloh - Kajang) is a clear sign of confidence and commitment that Syarikat Prasarana Negara as well as Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) have in the execution of the construction and completion of this MRT.

The MRT Blue Line - which goes from Sungai Buloh all the way to Kajang, spans about 51km, reduced slightly from before. According to the information shown, 9.5km out of this 51 km will be underground, whereas the balance will be elevated (or ground level I guess). The estimated costs of the Blue Line... if benchmarked at a cost/km of RM240million - would cost about RM 12.24 billion. =) As for the tunnel portion of 9.5km, if benchmarked at RM325million per every km, that portion would be worth about RM3.1billion.

According to press reports, the Government is expected to acquire about 473 plots of land along the MRT route - totalling about 97 hectares of land for the Blue Line. The breakdown of these acquisition is about 103 lots will be acquired between the Sg Buloh and Semantan (Damansara Heights) stretch, 163 lots over the underground section running from Semantan towards the city and 207 lots along Maluri to Kajang town. Existing land usage along the proposed alignment includes residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and recreational uses. Significant stretches, especially segments passing through secondary business hubs and the central business district, are mainly commercial in nature.

My immediate concern here is the timely approval by the local authorities with regards to the stations and alignments. Do note that the MRT Blue Line would go through Majlis Perbandaran Selayang (MPS), a little bit of Majlis Bandar Shah Alam (MBSA), a major part of Majlis Bandar Petaling Jaya (MBPJ), Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), a little bit of Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) and of course, Majlis Perbandaran Kajang (MPKj).

Rail designation : Blue Line
Distance : 51km
Total tunneling length : 9.5km
Total elevated length : 41.5km
No. of stations : 35
End-to-end time: 90mins
Train specifications : Driverless 4-car trains
Train capacity : 1,200 people (300x4)
No. of train sets : 58
Service headway : 109 seconds
Maximum speed : 100 km/hr

Some of the information as obtained from online.

The 35 stations along the Blue Line will be positioned near these plots of land. One of the stations will be built near the Warisan Merdeka Development, a project that includes a mammoth controversial 100-storey skyscraper. At least 20 listed property players have parcels of developed and undeveloped land along the Blue Line - some of these to benefit potentially includes MRCB, Berjaya, Sunway City, Guocoland, Malton, YTL, Selangor Properties just to mention a few.

Like what I said before recently, this MRT Blue Line is expected to increase the capital appreciation of its surrounding properties tremendously. Prices of properties are already on the upside due to higher building material prices and so on - and having this MRT just makes it sweeter for the land owners/developers.

By the looks of things and news reports, the tenders for this MRT is to be called - earliest also April 2011. The Government has targetted to commence work in July 2011 - hence I believe the earliest also would be April 2011 to call tender, and awarded by June/July. However, this rush also mean that perhaps only the general earthworks and site preparation works can be started - rather than the major civil works as those would require a more in-depth study on all logistics, traffic diversion as well as land acquisition matters.

With the Blue Line targetted to be completed in 2016 to operate a daily ridership of over 400,000, I trust that the public transport usage would be increased substantially, but I dont have the percentages with me though. 2011-2016 - that is about a 5 year contract period - making the Blue Line a fast-track project. There will be two other MRT lines that will be announced within the next 3 months - being the Circle Line as well as the Green/Red Line.

Some of the key locations within the MRT alignment.

Libya's ratings downgraded. #Libya

A leading ratings agency downgraded Libya's credit rating Monday as the oil-rich North African country reels from days of violence that have reportedly left hundreds of people dead. Fitch Ratings said its rating on Libya to BBB from BBB+ and warned that another downgrade may be in the offing if there's no clear political resolution or the violence escalates. If it's downgraded another two notches, then Libya's credit rating would be considered junk - surprising for a country with no government debt.

Charles Seville, a director in Fitch's sovereign ratings department, said the downgrade reflects the "eruption of political risk" in the country as protesters try to bring an end to the near 42-year rule of Moammar Gadhafi. Fitch said it's particularly concerned over whether the disruption extends to Libya's oil production. Libya is one of the world's biggest oil producers and has the largest proven oil reserves in the whole of Africa. Three leading oil companies, Eni SpA, Statoil and BP PLC, have already said they are pulling some employees out of Libya or preparing to do so.

The other main concern Fitch identified is that political reforms or outright regime change is unlikely to be smooth, given the absence of a mechanism to guide any transition. Political risk related to the lack of a constitution is already incorporated into Libya's rating, evidenced by the fact that Libya is the only Fitch-rated country that has no government debt. By the end of 2009, it had accumulated sovereign assets of up to $139 billion as it benefited from several years of high oil prices.

In fact, Fitch said the strength of the government's balance sheet substantially exceeds that of Saudi Arabia. Fitch has had a rating on Libya for only a couple of years as part of the country's efforts to open up its economy after it improved its relationship with Western governments. As well as noting the downside risks, Fitch said political reforms which successfully brought an end to the unrest would help stabilize the rating.

Nissan GTR R35 vs VW Golf GTi Mk6..... both OUT!

This video was posted up by a good friend last night.

This incident happened yesterday morning during a morning convoy on the Kuala Klawang route. I dont know what exactly happened - but the GTR hit the Golf (or the other way round, not too sure), and then ended up on fire....

Remember... be it a Ferrari, or a Proton, or a kapchai, be very careful on the roads. =)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Note: For the VW Golf GTi owner, need not worry so much!!! =)

Tapah R&R Fruit Stalls (Southbound).

Like what I said before - Almost without fail every single time I head up north - let it be Tapah, or Ipoh, or Penang and so on, I will definitely stop at least once - and this stop will most likely be at the Tapah R&R. Why do I always make my stop here? If you're a frequent North-South Expressway traveller, you'll know why. Tapah is perhaps about halfway in between Kuala Lumpur and slightly north of Ipoh. I usually take about 1 hour to get to the Tapah R&R from the Damansara or Jalan Duta interchange.

During the return to KL; or rather, while heading southbound, I would sometimes stop at the R&R too. =)

A short stop here can refresh your body as you take a little rest.

The southbound area is more proper than the northbound side, with some proper buildings as stalls. LOL.

A proper courtyard, just in case it rains.

They even have a Baskin Robbins here.

Plenty of fruits!!!!

Jambu batu, jambu air, jambu jeruk and probably all kinds of jambu available here!

...and some stalls even have petai too!!!
