Koran Burning Church Backs Off Plan

Terry Jones evidently got his satisfactory fifteen minutes of fame, including the attention of the president he most certainly believes is a Muslim or the Anti-Christ or the Muslim Anti-Christ, because he has called off the Koran urnig planned for Saturday.

Now we can go back to pretending Muslims who would have turned into homicidal maniacs recruited into Al Qeada or committed further terrorist acts I revenge for the Koran bonfire part of a religion of peace. Bonus points for still being able to consider Christianity the scourge of humanity even though an evil man has decided to do the right thing.

I do have one question we al ought to chew on. Gen. David Petreaus said the Koran burning ought not go forward because it would endanger our troops. In other circumstances, would we pay any attention to a military leader who said war protests ought to be stopped because of the danger to American soldiers? I think not.

The snarky response is to say we are fighting the first war in which wear afraid to hurt the enemy’s feelings, but that is not the reality. The truth is, we have to appease violent religious extremists by pretending they are not violent, religious extremists for our own good. What a danse macabre that is.

The media holds an awful lot of blame for not ignoring Jones in the first place. No one would have known or cared what his piddling little church was doing if the media was not trying to make them the face of the Ground Zero mosque opposition specifically and Christianity in general. If any troops had been killed I revenge or a terrorist act committed, the media would hold much of the responsibility for manufacturing this non-story into a international bruhaha.

Let us see this much attention be given to a mass burning of L. Ron Hubbard’s Diaetics, shall we? Or even to the fears of a Christian uprising over a Bible bonfire, for that matter. Neither would happen.
