I always appreciate when homeless people try to add some sort of value to people's lives in exchange for what money people may spare. Not everyone can afford an instrument to play or even markers for clever signs. That's when the real ingenuity comes into play. This guy has nothing, so he rocks out with nothing. As we learned from Shawshank Redemption, music is in your head and your heart, and they can't take that from you.
