The Alvin Greene situation with the Democratic party was funny at first, but it has become clear the guy needs serious help.

Alvin Greene Indicted on Two Charges
A Richland County jury has indicted longshot Senate candidate Alvin Greene on two charges, most significantly a federal charge of exposing pornographic material material to a University of South Carolina student without her consent. Greene faces up to eight years in prison if convicted on both counts.
At least we now know Greene is more from the Bill Clinton "kiss it" wing of the Democratic party than the come out of no where, why would anyone with two brain cells to rub together vote for him Barack Obama wing.
Clarification is always valuable.

Elena Kagan Confirmed by Senate: 63-37
No surprise.
Our most embarrassing politician--and that saying something--Lindsay Graham voted yes, while Kagan's home Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts voted no. Figure that one out.
Kagan joins the Court as a polarizing figure, but she strikes me as your typical bland progressive jurist more interested in suiting her sense of social justice than in accurately interpreting the law. Considering the previously appointed Wise Latia had a case overturned during her confirmation hearings, you have to wonder if Barack Obama has not dumbed down the Court for the ext two or three decades.
The pair are certainly a step down from John Roberts and Samuel Alito in terms of judicial acumen.

Why Was Alvin Greene Discharged from the Military?
No surprise--he is three fries short a Happy Meal.
The toy is probably not included, either, which would explain his idea of creating jobs by manufacturing action figures of himself. Every kid will want one. I bet it will have a kung fu grip for those special University of South Carolina co-eds to...uh..."use."
The article says Greene was discharged because he required a list of jobs to do on any given day, but was often incapable of following it. He did not understand the importance of doing a job right, so he was putting people at risk. So instead of letting Jack Nicholson order a code red, they discharged hi to avoid any potential legal posturing on the part of Tom Cruise.
Greene cannot focus on what needs to be doe, does not appreciate the value of doing tasks correctly, and brainstorms stupid ideas to serious problems. Sounds like the perfect Democrat to me. No wonder he got the nomination.

BlogNetNews is Kaput
BlogNetNews.com went down early last week, taking its state ranking system with it. I had hoped there were just some technical problems, but I heard through the face book grapevine owner David Mastio shut the domain down, presumably for good, because of dwindling advertising sales.
I did not think I would much care, but I found myself a bit melancholy there were no new weekly rankings coming late Saturday night as there normally would be from the site. That is a cruel thing to yank away from a statistics junkie after offering him a regular hit for well over a year.
Admittedly, the eye was not a very good fit. BlogNetNews was designed to measure the popularity of political blogs in any given state. Generally speaking, said blogs should have emphasized the state’s internal political happenings. I have never maintained the Eye as a South Carolina specific blogs and as I have frequently drifted out of politics towards science fiction and celebrity photos, I really ticked off fellow bloggers by routinely ranking within the top twenty blogs.
In fact, I have been as high as number two I the state, while I most frequently hovered I the eight to fifteen area. Regardless of where I ranked, it was fun to follow the week to week trend. I am going to miss it. When and if someone buys the set up and cranks it back up again, I know it will ever be the same.

Alvin Greene Toys with Job Creation Plan
Alvin Greene, Democratcandidate for Senate in South Carolina, knows what the kids want, and I do not mean pictures of a penis and an invitation for dorm room sex--although he will offer them that, too:
On a more serious note, Greene's idea presents compelling evidence he is crazy enough to just up and start a Senate campaign as his own delusional idea. He is not a Republican plant. Under the circumstances, I kind of wish he was. Getting someone like him nominated by the opposing party is a stroke of genius. almost as amusing as Greene's avant garde campaign is shaping up to be.
"Another thing we can do for jobs is make toys of me, especially for the holidays. Little dolls. Me. Like maybe little action dolls. Me in an army uniform, air force uniform, and me in my suit. They can make toys of me and my vehicle, especially for the holidays and Christmas for the kids. That's something that would create jobs. So you see I think out of the box like that. It's not something a typical person would bring up. That's something that could happen, that makes sense. It's not a joke."Yes, he is a fruit loop. Well played, Democrats. Well played.

Linda Ketner Will Not Run for Senate
Bad news for South Carolina Democrats--you arestuck with Alvin Greene.
Linda Ketner, the Great White Christian Bashing Lesbian Hope, has asked the former staf members from her failed Congressional campaign in 2008 who had started a petition to get her on the ballot in November to stop. Their rationale was a desire to get a paying consulting job. Ergo, her letter announcing she will not run specifically mentions a lack of resources. In other words, she cannot raise the moolah after rolling up and down the First Congressional District lecturing redneck Christianson the evils of opposing gay marriage.
Democrat activists had pinned their hopes on a Ketner independent run after making two realizations:
1. Alvin Greene won the Senate nomination.
2. Oh, crap! Oh, crap! He’s black!
Ketner bowing out leaves the party I an awkward spot. There is no one who believes Jim DeMint can be defeated no matter who runs against him. But Democrat need someone for whom to vote. Ca they really cast a ballot for Greene, a man most suspect is a mentally ill sexual predator and Republican plat?
Of course not. So will Democrats stay home on Election Day? Conventional wisdom says the party still has a shot at electing Vincent Sheheen as governor since he is running against the relatively inexperienced Mark Sanford associate Nikki Haley. But for now, she still has a considerable lead over him. If she starts running away with it, you may see an already hapless Democrat Party become completely demoralized.

Nikki Haley and Tim Scott Win
Look what those raaaaacist teabagging republicans have done. They went and nominated this woman for governor...
....and this man for Congress:
The latter, Tim Scott, defeated Paul Thurmond, son of the legendary Sen. Strom Thurmond. Welcome to the changing ace of South Carolina. We are finally putting the past behind us.
Republicans are, at any rate. The Democrats have done all they can to undermine their candidate for Senate, Alvin Greene, but supporting an independent run from a white candidate they consider more preferable, Linda Ketner.
She is a Christian bashing lesbian, so I guess that is progress of a sort. she will not earn more than 30% of the vote, if that. but how enlightened South Carolina Democrats will feel at the efort.

SC Democrats Stick with Alvin Greene; Promote Lesbian Christian-Hater for Independent Run
South Carolina democrats heard Vic Rawl’s protest against Alvin Greene’s primary win earlier today. The part decided to keep Greene as their candidate in order to preserve the integrity of their primary process. Whatever integrity there might be in it.
In response, some staff members of Linda Ketner’s failed run for 1st Congressional district race in 2008 have begun a petition for Ketner to stage an independent run for the Senate.
Is Ketner a good candidate for south Carolina? In her 2008 Congressional run against Henry Brown, she ran as an openly gay Christian-hater, so yes, she is a splendid for for Bible Belt, South Carolina. There is nothing we like better than a progressive with utter disdain for Christianity.
Assuming her candidacy gets off the ground, voting for Jim DeMint will become a holy cause for some.
The fascinating part is what this reveals about the rank and file Democrats in South Carolina--they want anyone but the black guy, even in a race they are absolutely certain to lose.
If the party is trying to not look dumb in the eyes of the rest of the country, they are failing miserably.

Nikki Haley Leads Democrat Opponent by 21 Points
A new poll shows Republican Nikki Haley leading her Democrat opponent, Vincent Sheheen, 55-34%.
Haley's primary opponent, Gresam Barrett, who will not win the GOP nod for governor, enjoys a much smaller 46-33% lead over Sheheen.
As you can see, Alvin Greene is not the South Carolina Democrats' only problem. He is just the most amusing. Mainly because he is the only one who is drawing any public attention.

Vic Rawl to Challenge Alvin Greene Nomination
Vic Rawl, the former judge and state representative who lost the democrat nomination for Senate to unemployed army veteran and alleged sex pervert Alvin “Chaucy Gardener” Greene, has officially he will officially challenge the election results based on the argument there is a large discrepancy between the absentee ballot vote count and the in person voting.
Rawl won the absentee voting by 94%, but lost the in person vote by 17%.
Does he have much of a case for fraud? Not really. Usually, voter fraud happens within absentee ballots because the safe guards are fewer than in person voting. In order to buy Rawls’ argument, you have to believe election monitors allowed for 30,000 fraudulent votes for Greene. The idea boggles the mind.
As does 30,000 Republicans crossing over to vote for Greene in some sort of prank. There is no way that happened with as hotly a contested gubernatorial race on the Republican side.
Rawl is looking for a do over. He would not likely get it under normal circumstances, but the way South Carolina has taken a drastic turn for the weird, you never know. Regardless of which man comes out as the nominee, he will lose to DeMint,. Probably by roughly the same percentage.
Raawl knows this. I think he and the Democrats are trying to save face. He does not want to bear the stigma of losing the nomination to Greene, no matter how worthless said nomination is.
