It is a tough call considering “Love & Monsters” and “Fear Her” are such duds, but the second season’s high points are enough to lift the season to great heights.
David Tenant’s inaugural turn as the Tenth Doctor featured personal favorites like ‘The Girl in the Fireplace,” “Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel,” “The impossible Planet/The Satan Pit” (my favorite two part episode thus far) and “Army of Ghosts/Doomsday.”
Doctor Who is often feast or famine. When it is good, it is great, but when it is bad, it is watchable. The second season is no exception, but the feast was unusually large that year. Consider the famine a soul purifying fast which makes the bountiful times all the better.
