Cirque du South Carolina GOP Gubernatorial Primary

You know, I truly pity you non-South Carolinians who cannot watch the freak show that is our GOP gubernatorial primary campaign unfold.

Atty. Gen. Henry McMaster now campaigns with members of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) serving as body guards because of an ambiguous threat against his life sent to a Charleston bank. The threat was motivated, by all things, because McMaster is Catholic. Dollars to donuts the threat was made by a graduate of Bob Jones University.

Two--count ’em, two--separate political consultants have come forward to claim they have slept with candidate Nikki Haley without offering up one shred of cogent evidence. Fortunately, only one has said he wants a book deal.

I have already talked about will Folks. The latest allegation is from Larry Marchant, a top consultant for Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, who is also running for governor in spite of advising that the poor are like stray dogs, so you should not feed them. Marchant was dismissed from the campaign after the “confession,” but has been photographed working with members of the Bauer campaign since his resignation.

Not to get terribly mean here, but this is Larry Marchant:..and this is Nikki Haley:
I would have a tough time buying the affair even if Haley was not a happily married woman.

Keep in mind these candidates are fighting to replace fellow Republican Mark Sanford, the guy who abandoned the state entirely in order to frolic o an Argentina beach with his mistress--and got away with it.

Wet tried to reach democrat front runner for governor, Vincent Sheheen, for comment, but no one knows who the heck he is.
