I have gone from being enormously amused by Alvin Greene’s backing into the Democrat nomination for Senate to being horrified by the way the Democrats and their associates in the media are handling the guy. It appears the message is to hound the guy util he gives up and quits.
Let me say I still do not think Greene is a GOP plant. While the South Carolina Republican party has done a number of shady things I the past, some of which I have been complicit in, This is not one of them. No one in the party would blow $ 10, 400 + just to embarrass an already pitiable state party. Jim Demint did not need a weak opponent in order to win. He would beat anyone the democrats could offer up.
I almost wish it was a GOP plot. The plan could have exposed the South Carolina Democrat party as the circus it is. Instead, it exposed the party for being dreadfully sinister.
Greene is clearly a disturbed man. This is a guy who inexplicably showed up on the campus of the university of South Carolina, showed a pornographic photo to a young student, and tried to convince her to take him to her dorm for sex. To be honest, I am not sure that is as unsettling as him never campaigning, never raising any money, and never even showing up to any part meetings, but winning the nomination for statewide anyway.
The question is who is more demented--Greene or the progressives, every one from state party members to Keith Olbermann, poudig the guy constantly to get out of the race?
For heaven’s sake, the guy was completely anonymous until the day after he won the nomination! He never campaigned and he is not going to. No one ever gave him any money, nor will they. He would not beat DeMint even if the state and national parties footed the entire bill for arigorous campaign. Ignore him and he will go away. You do not have to listen to him long to realize if he is not convicted of obscenity charges and sent to prison for five years, he is likely to be committed due to the findings of a psychiatric evaluation.
Yet democrats keep pounding him because of their embarrassment over his nomination. You think his nomination proves the party is unworthy to govern? It is their reaction to him that is more compelling proof.
