Going against the conventional widom, I do not hate Nikki and Paulo. They were not great additions to the cast like Juliet, Miles, Daniel, or Ms. Hawings, but they served ther purpose. The two weresuppoed to be minor characters for whom we could see past island events in a new light.
“Expose,” the episode in which we not only learned their backstory, but how they had been on the periphery of discovering the Nigerian plane and the second hatch, was one o the best of the third season. As a fan of Tales from the Crypt, I really enjoyed how the two diamond thieves wound up buried alive because spider bites made them appear dead. The horrific twist ending was great.
So was the reference in “Dr. Linus” when Miles learned they had been buried with $ 8 million in diamonds. How about that? A Nikki and Paulo reference in the final season, three years after their accidental deaths.
