SWIMMER Khoo Cai Lin was named as the Sportswoman of the Year at the Selangor Sports Awards 2009 in Shah Alam recently.
It was indeed a memorable moment for Cai Lin as she won the prestigious award for the third straight year. “I am happy to win the award. It will be an inspiration to do well in competition as well as further improve my times,’’ said Cai Lin.
Cai Lin, the winner in 2007 and 2008, made her presence felt in the 2009 SEA Games in Laos by winning a gold, three silver and two bronze medals. She also set three national records and a SEA Games record. As the winner, Cai Lin was presented with RM5,000 cash.
The Sportsman of the Year award went to cyclist Mohd Rizal Tisin for his impressive outings in the UCI Track Cycling World Cup, World Championships, Asian Championships and Asia Cup.
