Quotation #11--A Quote About Politics

"There are many men of principle in both parties in America, but there is no party of principle."--Alexis de Tocqueville

Bonus quote:

"In order to become the master, the politician poses as the servant."--Charles de Gaulle

(It appears the French were once highly perceptive about the true nature of politicians. Did Jacques Chirac ruin all that or am I just being mean?)

UPDATE: Scratch that. Now that I think about it, Charles de Gualle was a cynic who took his own quote above to heart in achieving power. I am skeptical the French Resistance was a significant entity as much as something propped up by the Allies to grnat the country some self-respect and de Gualle legitimacy i leadership once it was liberated
