Before her acting career hit the roadblock called Gilligan’s Island, Dawn Wells studied Chemistry at Stephens College before transferring to the University of Washington, eventually earning a degree I Theater Arts. She won the title of Miss Nevada in 1959, so she was a contestant at the 1960 Miss America pageant. I have a hard time believing she did not win. Wells still has a glow of beauty even at the age of 69 in her mug shot after being arrested for possession of pot:
That is right. Dear, sweet Mary Ann is a pothead. So was Bob “Gilligan” Denver. One wonders if they indulged during filming breaks. Such would explain some of the goofier episodes. Something had to mellow the Castaways out to keep them from killing screw up Gilligan week after week.
